Wound Care Center at St Petersburg General Hospital

Dr. Couch explains the resources available to you at the Wound Care Center.

The Wound Care Center is dedicated to the provision of state of the art, outpatient clinical wound care. Any patient with a wound that has not started to heal in two weeks or is not completely healed in six weeks may be a candidate for the Wound Care Center.

The coordinated use of a variety of clinical treatments, debridement, medicines, dressing and support services to treat problem wounds has proven highly effective in facilitating the healing process. The staff at the Wound Care Center specializes in the treatment of problem wounds.

The patient remains with a primary care physician and maintains the care of the patient's underlying disease and continues to provide for the patient's overall care. The Center treats only the wound. The patient meets with the staff for a consultation, including an examination and medical history evaluation.

The primary care physician will establish a treatment plan. Information regarding the patient's progress, along with updated photos of the wound will be submitted to the primary care physician on an ongoing basis.
